    AZBOX - tuner sensitivity?

Having read that these receivers can clear 4:2:2 transmissions, I'm thinking about getting one for my next "upgrade". However, before doing so, I'd like to know from current users how sensitive the tuner is? My first HD receiver (Humax HDCI2000) was a bit marginal for Nilesat reception here in Switzerland, and on the recommendation from someone on this board, I got a Technomate 6900, which was a vast improvement, both for Nilesat and pretty well everyting else.

So does anyone run both an AZBOX and a TM6900 for comparison?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mate,

I run a Azbox and a Dreambox 7000S, I can confirm a massive improvement on the Azbox for pulling in weak channels.

Example: I get around 20 channels on 1W that I cant get on the DB.

I can clear Setanta sports with no problems on 28E that I can not do with the DB.

Hope this is of some help.

Dreambox 7000S have the worse tuner in sat receivers, so that not really a good comparison.

Good tuners are from Sharp, like the ones Technomate and Clarke Tech use.

AzBox uses Samsung tuners, I doubt they are better than sharp.

    Cheers.

Suprisingly the tuner on the AzBox HD is better than my Vantage 7100S which was better than my Technomate 1000D.

I can easily lock on to the 11766H and 11804H transponders on 7W in decent weather, where as I was not able to do so on the other receivers.

I have to still test it when it's raining..

A scan on Vantage brought back 293 channels on 7W where as the scan on AzBox brings back 329 channels...

That sounds like a really good tuner... :congratulations-008
That alone is a great selling point, now all they have to do is to fix some bugs in the firmware and this will be a great box.

    Indeed!

I run DBox2 and AZbox and can [still] confirm the above by Yoda and Tarzy!:respect-051:

I think you should only be able to spot differences on a analog setup, like via component HD video, however I think the analog part is something that the Azbox firmware team is working on.

    Best regards!

I had 2 models Clarke Tech (2100 and 2100 Plus), and assure that the azbox hd tuner is superior! Now we just lack the Blind Search tuner to be an exceptional!!!
