    Big audio problem

So i switched the DM800 on today and i wasn't getting any audio!

I had switched over from nabilosat to gemini last night but everything was fine with the latest gemini image.

I have restarted/rebooted/restarted enigma/factory reset/back to nabilosat image but audio is dead on DVI (with supplied dvi-hdmi cable).

I then tried it with a scart lead and the audio came back.

So what does this indicate if i can receive audio from scart but not dvi? Audio from receivers dvi is fooked or (hopefully) dvi-hdmi cable is faulty?

If it's the cable, where do i get a new one?

If it's the receiver, it's under guarantee from goldwafers so i'm guessing images/plugins ect. aint going to nullify the guarantee?

Don't know but it would prove the box and cables were ok.

If it does work then I would guess it was just a bug or it may be worth flashing via a null modem cable.

    @ diceman

have you got the DB connected via an Amp?

if yes in your AV/settings is it configured for... AC3 default>Yes.... downmix>No

I somehow dont think it's the HDMI-DVI cable or the image, i think somwhere along the line your settings have been changed without you realising.

keep us posted let's see what we can see.

First off, Oozon & original firmware = no audio on dvi.

DM800 connected direct to tv's hdmi (tried different hdmi inputs on tv) - don't have an amp.

Works fine with scart on all images.

The only 2 plugins i installed before i lost the audio was camd ecm info & 2lang (audio plugin i know) maybe an issue?

    Sorry Freinds

i donot have a DM800 HD however by follow up this forum i have understand that it is not posssible to use DVI and Scart lead at the same time
Please can you check you TV setup if you have set it on DVI you will not have audio you may need to set it on HDMI

you can use the dvi and scart at the same time, i am...

the dvi i would of thought will ouput digital audio and the scart analog which might come from a different part of the dm800 motherboard/system

if thats the case then you simply may have a faulty chip or connection that carries the audio from the dvi

The 2lang plugin auto changes the default audio to English. I've used it before on Nabilo and Gemini images without any problems. Anway re-flashing images/original firmware uninstalled it.

It's either the dvi-hdmi cable or receiver - like you say.

What i've done is, scart composite adapter in dm800 - ran audio from that into tv (at first) then decided to connect it into line in of pc as it's a better option for me as i never watch tv without the pc on.

    Problem:

You can't physically fit a scart and smargo into the dm800!

Solved: :winner-019: Ran short USB2 male - USB2 female into dm800 USB slot, then connected smargo into female end of USB2 cable.

S#y card works just as before - and i've been looking closely!

I think i'll just stick with this set up as i'm not gaining anything if i get the audio back on the dvi.

    Thanks.

So, i've been pi$$ing around with this problem for days - new cable, images, settings on dm800 & tv with no success.

Was going to pack the receiver up and send it back tomorrow.

I tried one last thing - ran the audio from the scart/composite adapter to the tv (previously in pc line-in) ...no audio!

Mmmmmm, could be a tv issue i thought, maybe ac3 codec. Changed a few settings on the tv but still no audio.

Getting to the back of the tv and changing cables is awkward and i accidentally knocked the mains cable out, plugged it back in
...........audio kicks in on dvi & analogue

That was the "problem" tv has become messed up - plug fookin out - plug fookin in - bingo.

You won't tell any of my m8's will you? They think i know about stuff.
