    AP3000 via Power Supply Failure

    Wonder if anyone can help!!!

I had a power outage during the bad weather a couple of weeks ago and since then the Echostar didn't come back on.
Being a telly engineer many years ago, I had a look and IC1 on the Power Supply has self distructed big style, its now in two pieces.

Wonder if this has happened to anyone else before. I know with switched mode PSU's there are usually a number of other components that tend to go bye byes as well so even if I replace the blown IC chances are that one or two other components will have been taken out. As I do not have a circuit diagram I would appreciate any info.

    PLEASE!!! :o10:

I assume you mean the AD3000ip. I have a schematic for the SMPU I drew out a while ago that has helped others. Unfortunately I can't attach here, but can post the list of components (when I find it).

You may find many of the components in the primary side downwind of the chopper ICI are either killed or stressed, so may not be worth the time and effort to replace.

    Ap3000ipva

Sorry I did mean the AP3000ipva
It would be great if you can find the component list, although I may take your advice and change the components downwind of the chopper IC.
I just want to use it a bit longer before I upgrade to a HD receiver.

    Thanks for the info.

If the AD3000ip has finally bit the dust, any advice on what to replace it with?
I have an old P to P positioner for my 1.2m dish I think its 36v type so most modern receivers don't cater for this.
I was thinking a decent HD receiver, but what's the Dreambox stuff all about??
I just got the Diablo for footie weeks before the receiver packed in.

    WHAT DO I DO???

You will need to get a VBox II that moves the 36v dish. It conects to your dish via exiting cables, and reciever by coax.

there should be no problems using your old positioner to move the dish.

i have a channel master 1.2 dish with 36volt actuator
used to use echostar ad3000 ip via still got it in fact only problem i found with the echostar is the remote.

Yes, that's my stuff. Minor details to the schematics have been changed over time, but there's enough information to get the supply up and working if you're dedicated enough

Thanks chaps, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
I will try to get my hands on some bits tomorrow and get the old soldering iron warmed up.
Should the patience last out I may stand a good chance of getting it working again.

    Thanks again guys. :respect-048:
