    Changing image - backup?

Fairly new to dreambox. Have a general question regarding image switching which I suppose will happen from time to time.
Have pretty much everything setup the way I want to. When it's time to flash a new image is there a way to backup & restore my configuration to a new image? Specifically customized channel lists etc.

    Cheers

Without using barry allen I have found the best way is to:

-Write down your motorised sat settings (longitude/latitude etc)
-Write down your network config/IP etc and remember your password
-Backup any important files by FTP'ing them to the PC (cccam.cfg)
-Use dreamboxedit to FTP and copy the channel lists from the dreambox to the PC
    -Flash new image

-Restore network settings/IP, and your password
    -Install any addons (cccam etc)
-Restore your backed up filess (cccam.cfg for example).
-FTP your channel lists using dreamboxedit
-Reconfigure your motorised sat with your written down settings (maybe not relevant)

    Hope this helps.

... and regarding BA which I've read about but not used yet. How would your described prcedure differ if BA is used. More complicated or easier?
As far as I've understood BA is mostly used by people who want to test and try out different images. Are there advantages I haven't understood?

To be honest I have tried barry allen only once and it isn't for me. Using barry allen it is possible to recompile an image (to a .nfi file) after you have made changes to it (from what I have read, never tried it myself).

Dreamboxedit takes all the hardwork out of it with regards to your channel lists. You will need to configure it by adding your dreambox IP/username/password. You can open pre-made channel lists, edit them, FTP to and from the box as you wish. Depending what image you are using will depend on the locations for files. This is configured quite easily in the settings page.

Use the backup/restore plugin included by default in all the images.
