    Advice Fibo dish motor

    Hi.
I’m looking to buy a replacement motor for my Fibo 120cm Gregorian dish, as supplied by SCT around 12 years ago.
Can anyone advise me if this would be suitable? :

    “Kreiselmeier Motor
    Ersatzmotor
Motor für Kreiselmeier, Fibo, Philips 90 cm Antenne
    Neu und originalverpackt”

    Advertised at s*tfoc*s de.

I’m hoping some of you who are familiar with this dish will know to what the above refers! Don’t want to upset the Mods.

    Thanks for any help.

    that translated means

    Gyro motor Meier
    Replacement engine
Centrifugal force for Meier, Fibo, Philips 90 cm antenna
    New and original packaging "
What error do you get with your motor? As there sometimes easaly repared.

    Hi

I have the 1.2 metre version and the motor packed in a few years ago. The brush gear completely collapsed, I exchanged it for an 18volt capstan motor from a sharp vhs video recorder.

The main problem however is the nylon drive gear, there is a guy based in the netherlands who ahs many new parts for the original fibo dish. Aslo he runs a website, I will pm the details if I can find. I bought 2x gears off him at a cost of 15euros including postage.
    cheers

    Thanks for the reply CROSSBONES.
The motors ok at the moment, just that some times it makes an awful sound when auto positioning. I’ve seen posts before saying they do fail. Thought I’d play safe and get a spare in ready!
The site I mentioned was discussed some years ago on, I believe, Satpimps, as a source for a replacement motor. So I paid them a visit, to see if they still supplied motors. Quite pricey! Thought I’d better make sure it’s the right one before I buy. I’m also concerned about the dish size; do both the 90cm and the 120cm Fibo dishes use the same motor? The motor advertised is for a 90cm dish. I assume you are familiar with the site I covertly mentioned! Can you comment on the motor they're selling?

I’m getting too old now for climbing ladders and manhandling 120cm dishes! Thought if I have a spare ready then, should the motor fail, I can call out the dish installer to fit the new motor. Perhaps I could then look at repairing the old motor once it’s on the ground.

Thanks for the pm dez, good of you. I’ve signed up! A very useful site for Fibo owners. I see CROSSBONES is a busy chap there, assuming it’s the same one!

    Thank you both.

a jaeger 1224 motor can be used on the dish, you will need to modify the channel master adapter plate with the 4 holes for the fibo dish

dez, cant you put the cable in some plastic pipe and seal the ends with some silcone sealant or something ?

    Morning Wod

The dish has been up on my roof patio since 1997and most of he cable run is in minitrunking but there are sections which arent. It is one of those jobs that I have kept putting off!!

There are two breaks in the cable which I have kept bodging and taping and now the water as got into long lengths and the copper has turned black so it is difficult to solder.

In the spring I will put in a new cable run and protect it better. The rats only bit thru the +ve and -ve supply on one occasion they always seem to go for the +ve 5 volt optical supply and I get the dreaded ERR display on my Pace positioner. Initialy it used to take me ages to find the fault I now go straight to the problem and being on my roof patio access is very easy.

I have considered modifying the mount on various occasions but I still stick with the original Fibo mount. I used to have the USA version of the mount with a huge and more substantial motor on it but I carelessly broke the alluminium flange on it and stupidly threw it down the local tip! a few years ago.

Good to know that there is still good interest and support in such a brilliant dish.

    Cheers

    Dez

Icon14 Gregorian Fibo Motor and Dish

    HI Guys..
    @ dez and @ muscles
YES have the same combination 90cm Dish.
Was having a lot of problems last year with my Motor and the Cogs with a TF3000 Pos 36V Receiver..cos my Echostar LT8700 packed up..
Found a little Shop around my area with a Guy who does Electrical work and he sorted the problem for me and got the Echostar working again..
He charged me Peanuts and I was absolutely speechless..but very Happy.
Replaced the TF 3000 with my Echostar again..
Then I got the Spare Parts the Cogs etc for my Motors..
Cleaned the Motor and greased the Cogs and Dish attachments with this Electrical Grease and NOW it runs just like new..!!

If you G**gle for Mullers Sat Technik in Hemhofen..
(The Board should NOT mind this Info cos it is a very specialised Item and NO Board sponsor can Help.)
Get in touch with them they are very friendly and speak english.
Guys..its well worth the effort to get Up onto the roof and carry out some Spring cleaning this will be rewarded with a SMOOTH and SILENT running Dish again..
Ron and Crossbones and Maggie I know from another Board.
So you are in Good company here..:302:

    Cheers:respect-048:

    @ Weeted.
Assume you are asking for the contact details for the motor to which I referred. Tried to pm you, but it seems you are not allowed to receive a pm.

    @ Maggie.
Is the firm you mention the same one andrew007 mentions in post #12? If not, would you please pm me their address?

    @ dez.
Would you please pm me the contact details for Ron from Holland.

    @ andrew007
    Perhaps I’ll have to give the spring-cleaning a re-think when the weather’s a little warmer. :o11:
I’ve had a look at the site you recommend, but can’t find any reference to Fibo motors or spares. Do I have to email them an enquiry?

    Thank you all.

I don't have enough posts to send PMs, and wonder if somebody could please PM me the contact details for Ron in Holland - preferably an email address. I want to buy a couple of nylon gear wheels.
